APIPP's Aquatic Program works to prevent the spread and control of invasive aquatic plants and animals in Adirondack waterways through the following specialty areas:
EARLY DETECTION SURVEYS - VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
Carrying out lake surveys, utilizing contracted seasonal crews, and training volunteers to join the Lake Protectors, APIPP works to catch infestations before they grow to disrupt ecosystems and economies. You can join Lake Protectors and help survey for aquatic invasive species. It is an easy and fun way to be a steward of a local waterbody of your choice. Volunteers committ to:
Attend a virtual or in person training each year to learn how to identify invasive species and report them.
Adopt a waterbody to monitor at least once during July-September.
Report what you observe to APIPP using the online or paper forms.
