Join the Adirondack Watershed Institue for the 2021 New York Invasive Species Awareness Week - Junior Adirondack Watershed Steward Program.
Designed for elementary and middle school students (ages 7-12), this program gives your child the opportunity to visit their local Adirondack boat launch and interact with a Watershed Steward. They will observe a boat inspection and interview an Adirondack Watershed Institute boat steward in your local community. Your family can learn about invasive species and ways in which Adirondack lakes are being protected. Your child will be asked to reflect on their experience and share pictures on our project board and in return will earn a AWI Junior Steward Certificate.
This program is free of charge and requires approximately 2 hours of time to prepare for and visit a local Adirondack boat launch during Invasive Species Awareness Week (depending on your proximity to an official launch - see the list below).
Upon registration, you will receive your Junior Watershed Steward kit with clear instructions, materials and confirmation about visiting your local launch.
